Ingredient Spotlight: Coffee Oil

There is one ingredient in the S.W. arsenal that seems to continually excite, bewilder, and generally be of interest to our customers: Coffee oil. Found in our Oil Serum, coffee oil is arguably the most misunderstood of all our ingredients. That’s to say, it gets talked about a lot – and there’s a lot of confusion swirling around about it.

S.W. Recipe: Date Energy Balls

When we’re really busy, our healthy eating habits tend to fall by the wayside; snacking digresses into a handful of chocolate covered raisins, a bunch of chips, or – worse of all – an iced latte. All of these snacks, while tasty going down, leave us feeling lethargic, kind of guilty, and totally hungry.

On Skincare Rules

Shrewd beauty marketers have figured out one important thing about us consumers: We like rules. In fact, we’re deeply reliant on them: We need rules to navigate the treacherous world of beauty; without them we’ll become pimply, wrinkly, haggard, unattractive, smelly messes. Join The S.W. Basics Framily!

DEET – the active element in many insect repellents – is one of those ingredients that we have a “love-hate” relationship with. On one hand, it is consistently proven to be the most effective repellent available against insects like mosquitos and ticks. Furthermore, is the gold standard for protecting against life-altering illnesses like Zika and Malaria. (Yikes.) But studies like this one have shown that prolonged exposure to DEET can cause physiological abnormalities and cell death in rats. What’s more, DEET has also been linked to negative side effects like skin irritations, nausea, rashes, headaches, and dizziness.

#SWFAQ: Our Toner

While we hate to choose favorites, our Toner is arguably one of them. Not only does it help to balance out oil production – making skin less oily and less dry – its acidic nature assists in regulating the skin’s own pH, resulting in less blemishes and a more even-toned complexion. And while we may be biased, we kinda think you guys feel the same way, too – for the most part…
