S.W. Basics Gift Guide

‘Tis better to give then receive – except, of course, if you have no idea what to give. Admit it: Even the most spirited of us can become slightly Grinch-like at the prospect of gift shopping creatively. That’s where we come in to save the day, ala Cindy Lou Who. (But wait. Do you know who played Cindy Lou in 2000’s classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas? Bet it’ll blow your mind.) We’re here to help answer the what-the-heck-do-I-buy-this-person question – and vastly improve your holiday mood in the process.

Shopping for someone that’s a DIY enthusiast is a challenge – after all, wouldn’t she just prefer to *make* whatever you’d buy her? (Sigh.) Solve this problem by gifting her “projects.”

Some of our favorites include a Home Kombucha Brew Kit from Kombucha BK, a DIY knitting kit from Wool and the Gang (we love this Snood), or our DIY Skincare Set, which includes our Aloe Powder, Shea Butter, Rosewater, Jojoba Oil, and Lavender and Tea Tree Essential Oils paired with our founder Adina Grigore’s DIY bible Skin Cleanse.

Gifting for the person in your life who is always 30,000 feet up in the air?  For the ultimate travel present, we think this “smart” carry-on from Raden – which enables you to charge your phone on it and locate it via GPS – is worth its weight in platinum status. For those of us who don’t have platinum dollars to spend, however, we’re all about this dry shampoo from Acure (ain’t nobody got time to shower when they’re on the road) and this convenient phone charger from Native Union (because ain’t nobody got time to charge their phone when they’re on the road, either).

Oh yeah, we also recommend our Road Warrior Set, which contains some of our most hardworking – and soothing – products for travel-weary complexions.

ICYMI, this acronym stands for “in case you missed it.” And if you have a friend that uses this expression regularly, you should consider one of these gifts.

You may not be able to buy your pal the latest iPhone, but you can get her a sweet iPhone case. One of these will surely do the trick. (Also this woah.) And for the one that is “so over” coffee, why not give him this Mushroom Coffee Mix with Lion’s Mane and Chaga from Four Sigmatic? (Yes, you read this correctly.) Also, you’ll win tons of hot-off-the-press bonus points if you gift our New Stuff Set, which features our brand-spanking-new products. (Tube Cream, Scrub Cream, and Salve ICYMI).

First off, get this person a babysitter. Then, start shopping. Any Coconut Wax Candle from Upstate Stock will make her house smell more rustic-woodsy and less vomit-pee pee. These Cookie Monster Slippers from our homies at Target win points for being ridiculous, plus they’re a friendly reminder for your child that you are, indeed, a cookie monster.

And in the world of S.W., might we recommend our Body Care Set or the Natural “Newbie” Bundle? The former is a must for those bath enthusiasts out there (which, surely, new moms can relate to) and the latter is a great choice for breastfeeding mamas who are making the transition to a more natural lifestyle. Good for you!

We all have a friend who is like, “I’m a damn lady” and is doing the whole red-lipstick-and-mascara thing, and doing it well. I mean, maybe it’s you. We salute you, Madame.

Natural makeup company Kjaer Weis makes a mean lipstick, with their ‘Adore’ color being a classic Hollywood red. Another good red pucker option – Compassion Passion – comes via our friends at Pacifica. Pair that with W3LL PEOPLE’s Expressionist Mascara and you’re all set.

But wait! Be sure to gift her our Makeup Junkie Bundle, which includes the essentials for both removing makeup and taking care of the skin underneath it. Pro hint: Use the Rosewater Spray to ‘set’ concealer / foundation.

Ugh, we love this person. He/she is a breath of fresh air in the world of FLASH SALES! and Black Friday store stampedes.

Chances are this person isn’t really a “material things” person, so might we suggest a subscription to The New Yorker or Vanity Fair? Also a great idea: A reusable shopping bag, like this witty one from the School of Life. Just in case, you know, he or she decides to ever go shopping.

Need another idea? Our Starter Bundle – featuring three of our bestselling products – is a good first step for someone who isn’t interested in all the bells and whistles.

GET THIS PERSON A HUG. Just kidding! You can buy something, too.

These Compliments Of Compliments Cards are super sweet (and slightly sardonic) which will certainly make your loved one feel just great without you having to be all mushy. Not the most original thing in the world, but gifting a Vitamix Blender is basically like buying a Ferrari for his or her kitchen. Now that’s love. And if you just want to show your love the physical way, we’ll point you towards Sustain’s Come and Play Pack. Rawr.

NOT DONE YET. You can also now gift a whole slew of S.W. products, thanks to our Full Regimen Set (Cleanser, Toner, Cream, Oil Serum, Makeup Remover, Lip Balm Flight, phew)! After all, nothing says, “I love you,” like a bunch of 100% all-natural skincare products.

Let’s start with the most important thing: Food. Fancy craft chocolate is always a good idea – we love the direct trade, beans-to-bar mission of Askinosie and organic, vegan offerings from Nibmor. For the perpetual snacker, Square Bars rock, as does Purely Elizabeth Granola – which now comes in Mini Sizes! (GASP.)

Speaking of mini sizes, have you met the S.W. Basics small-but-fierce collection of Minis? From our Exfoliant to our Cream, we’ve got a full range of our products available in one-ounce sizes; they’re the perfect small gift or ironic olive branch for the commitment-phobe in your life. If you’re not looking for a commitment – just a make out – we’ll point you in the direction of our smooch-friendly offerings: Our Organic Lip Balm Flight and our brand-new Salve. <3

You’re probs dying for us to keep going, but we gotta go shop now! Happy Holidays!!
